New Delhi, Oct 27 (NationPress) President Droupadi Murmu is set to unveil the nation’s vision for solar power-driven development and the concept of ‘One World, One Sun, One Grid’ during her address at the 8th Session of the International Solar Alliance (ISA) Assembly on Tuesday at Bharat Mandapam, as per a statement released on Monday.
This address will be significant as it represents the first-ever speech by an Indian President to the ISA Assembly, highlighting India’s strong commitment to the ISA's leadership role in fostering international cooperation on solar energy and its foundational vision of “One World, One Sun, One Grid”, according to the statement.
The Eighth Assembly of the ISA, taking place from October 28 to 30, will convene ministers, policymakers, international organizations, and leaders from the private sector, representing 125 Member and Signatory Countries.
As the foremost decision-making entity of the Alliance, the Assembly will discuss strategies aimed at: Expanding solar finance and investments in underserved regions; enhancing capacity and developing solar skills for a more resilient clean energy future; promoting innovative solar technologies and their applications in agriculture to boost food security; and encouraging innovation throughout the global solar value chain.
The President’s keynote speech will establish the framework for the Assembly’s discussions, reaffirming the collective commitment of ISA Member Countries towards a sustainable, inclusive, and solar-powered future.
Ashish Khanna, Director General of ISA, noted that global renewable energy is at a crucial turning point.
“It took oil 25 years to reach 1,000 GW — renewables achieved that milestone in just two years. For the first time, renewable generation has outpaced fossil generation. This is a pivotal moment for the Global South to take the lead,” he stated.
Previously, during the pre-event for the 8th session of the ISA assembly, Minister of New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi mentioned that with around 125 GW of solar capacity, India has become the third-largest solar producer globally.
He stated that due to its clear vision and consistent policies, India met its renewable energy goals five years ahead of schedule, reaching over 50 percent in overall installed electricity capacity from non-fossil resources.
Established by India and France at COP21 in Paris, ISA is the largest treaty-based intergovernmental organization from the Global South, uniting 124 Member and Signatory Countries.
