New Delhi, Aug 14 (NationPress) As India prepares to celebrate its 79th Independence Day, President Droupadi Murmu delivered an inspiring address reflecting on the nation’s remarkable evolution—from the grip of colonial oppression to the emergence of democratic empowerment, economic growth, and technological innovation.

In her speech, infused with both nostalgia and forward-looking hope, she extended heartfelt wishes to the populace, invoking the spirit of unity and national pride that characterizes this significant occasion.

She paid tribute to the freedom fighters whose sacrifices paved the way for India’s independence, while acknowledging the lingering pain of the “Partition,” honored through the observance of “Vibhajan Vibhishika Smriti Diwas,” as a commemoration for those affected by historical upheavals.

Emphasizing India’s democratic heritage, she referred to the nation as the “mother of democracy,” highlighting its ancient republican traditions and the inclusive ethos embedded in the Constitution. The President reaffirmed core values of justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity, grounded in human dignity and equal opportunity.

Shifting focus to economic advancements, President Murmu remarked on a robust 6.5 percent GDP growth, increased exports, and managed inflation. She credited reforms, effective governance, and the commitment of workers and farmers for lifting countless individuals out of poverty.

Current welfare initiatives are safeguarding vulnerable groups from falling back below the poverty line, while regional inequalities are diminishing.

Infrastructure progress has accelerated, showcasing expanded highways under Bharatmala and technological enhancements in railways. The launch of the Kashmir rail link was celebrated as a pivotal milestone, promising economic uplift and enhanced connectivity.

Urban development was another highlight, with metro rail projects extending across cities and AMRUT ensuring access to water and sanitation. The Jal Jeevan Mission is actively providing tap water to rural households. In the realm of healthcare, Ayushman Bharat has benefited over 55 crore citizens, now including all seniors over 70, irrespective of income.

Digital connectivity, the President noted, has reached nearly every village, positioning India as a global frontrunner in digital payments and secure Direct Benefit Transfers.

Highlighting the India-AI Mission, she emphasized the aspiration for India to become a global hub for artificial intelligence by 2047. She underlined that technological advancements must enhance governance and improve lives, particularly for marginalized communities.

Concluding her speech, she commemorated National Handloom Day and invoked the spirit of Swadeshi, urging citizens to support Make-in-India and Atmanirbhar Bharat.

“Let us commit to purchasing and using Indian products,” she expressed, reaffirming India’s journey towards becoming a developed, self-reliant nation.

India is rapidly progressing towards becoming a developed economy by 2047, propelled by the energy of youth, women, and historically marginalized groups.

The National Education Policy, flourishing job markets, and entrepreneurial encouragement are empowering young Indians, as exemplified by Shubhanshu Shukla’s space adventure.

Women are achieving remarkable success across various fields, with increasing representation in defense, sports, and governance. Social equity is advancing through focused initiatives, she noted.

Operation Sindoor showcased India’s unity, strategic determination, and self-reliance in defense, she asserted.

“As we tackle terrorism and corruption, we must also safeguard the environment and embrace sustainable practices. With collective action and sound governance, India's future holds the promise of prosperity, dignity, and global leadership,” she urged the citizens.
