Prime Minister Modi Honors Sahibzades, Exemplifying Bravery and Commitment to Values

New Delhi, Dec 26 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Wednesday, paid homage to the Sahibzades during the observance of Veer Baal Diwas and expressed his hope that they would always guide us towards building a more just and compassionate society.

In a post on X, PM Modi emphasized that the sacrifice of the Sahibzades serves as a shining example of valor and a steadfast commitment to one’s values.

"Today, on Veer Baal Diwas, we honor the unmatched bravery and sacrifice of the Sahibzades. In their youth, they stood resolute in their faith and principles, motivating generations with their courage. Their sacrifice epitomizes valor and a deep commitment to one’s values. We also remember the courage of Mata Gujri Ji and Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji. May they perpetually lead us in constructing a more just and compassionate society."

On January 9, 2022, PM Modi declared December 26 as Veer Bal Diwas to honor the martyrdom of the sons of Sri Guru Gobind Singh JiSahibzadas Baba Zorawar Singh Ji and Baba Fateh Singh Ji — who were martyred in 1704.

Since then, various programs have been organized nationwide to commemorate this significant occasion.

On Thursday, PM Modi is slated to partake in the Veer Baal Diwas celebrations at the Bharat Mandap in the national capital.

The event is set to begin in the afternoon and will underscore the crucial role of children as the cornerstone of India’s future.

The Prime Minister will launch the ‘Suposhit Gram Panchayat Abhiyan’ during this event.

This initiative aims to enhance nutritional outcomes and well-being by fortifying the execution of nutrition-related services and ensuring active community participation.

Numerous initiatives will also be implemented across the nation to engage young minds, raise awareness about the day’s significance, and cultivate a culture of courage and dedication to the nation, as per a press release from the Prime Minister's Office on Tuesday.

A series of online competitions, including interactive quizzes, will be hosted through the MyGov and MyBharat Portals. Engaging activities such as storytelling, creative writing, and poster-making will take place in schools, Child Care Institutions, and Anganwadi centers.

The recipients of the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar (PMRBP) will also attend the program. The 17 awardees of PMRBP, who will be recognized by President Droupadi Murmu, include seven boys and ten girls who will receive a medal, certificate, and citation booklet as part of the honor, according to a statement from the Union Women and Child Development Ministry.

The Prime Minister will also address the audience during this significant occasion.

During the conflict between the Mughals and Guru Gobind Singh, the Guru's family was separated following a fierce battle near the Sarsa River. After their capture, the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb offered the young Sahibzadas safety if they converted to Islam. Standing firm in their beliefs, the two youngest sons, Sahibzada Zorawar Singh and Sahibzada Fateh Singh, were sentenced to death. They were bricked alive within the walls of a fort in Sirhind (Punjab), becoming enduring symbols of unwavering faith and bravery.

Veer Bal Diwas serves not just as a day to commemorate the martyrdom of Sahibzada Zorawar Singh and Sahibzada Fateh Singh, but also as a reminder of the sacrifices made by all four of Guru Gobind Singh's sons and the valor they exhibited. Their martyrdom embodies the Sikh values of faith, sacrifice, and resilience in the face of challenges. This day celebrates their legacy and the principles they stood for, reinforcing the tenets of the Khalsa and the teachings of Guru Gobind Singh.
