Prime Minister Modi to Inaugurate New Railway Terminal in Hyderabad Tomorrow

Hyderabad, Jan 5 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to virtually inaugurate the Charlapalli Railway Terminal in Hyderabad on Monday.
The inauguration event at Charlapalli Railway Station will feature prominent attendees including Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, Union Minister of Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy, Minister of State for Railways V. Somanna, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar, among others.
This terminal, which is situated on the eastern side of Hyderabad, is the fourth passenger terminal in the Hyderabad-Secunderabad twin city area. It aims to alleviate congestion at other major rail terminals like Secunderabad, Hyderabad, and Kacheguda. To accommodate the city’s increasing transportation demands, Lingampalli was also developed as an additional terminal station.
The Charlapalli terminal, constructed at a cost of Rs. 413 crore, is designed to handle an extra 15 pairs of trains alongside four additional high-level platforms. Moreover, the existing five platforms have been extended to serve full-length trains, and there are 10 more lines in total, bringing the overall capacity to 19 lines.
Features of the new terminal include spacious concourse areas, an illuminated facade, two broad foot overbridges, and both lifts and escalators. A 12-metre-wide foot overbridge connects all platforms directly from the concourse, while a six-metre-wide foot overbridge facilitates inter-platform movement.
The station building is equipped with six booking counters, separate waiting halls for men and women, an upper-class waiting area, and an executive lounge on the ground floor. The first floor is home to a cafeteria, restaurant, and restroom facilities. Each of the nine platforms will have escalators and lifts, with a total of seven lifts and six escalators to assist passenger movement. Additionally, there will be coach maintenance facilities to support the originating and terminating of trains at the station.
To enhance passenger services and reduce congestion at the Secunderabad and Hyderabad Railway Stations, the South Central Railway has relocated the terminal station for two express trains.
Starting January 7, the terminal for train number 12603/12604 Chennai Central-Hyderabad-Chennai Central will shift from Hyderabad to Charlapalli. Similarly, the terminal for train number 12589/12590 Gorakhpur-Secunderabad-Gorakhpur will also be moved from Secunderabad to Charlapalli.
Furthermore, three express trains will now have additional stops at Charlapalli Railway Station: 12757/12758 Secunderabad-Sirpur Kaghaznagar-Secunderabad, 17201/17202 Guntur-Secunderabad-Guntur, and 17233/17234 Secunderabad-Sirpur Kaghaznagar-Secunderabad.
