Prime Minister Launches Charlapalli Railway Terminal in Hyderabad to Foster Regional Growth

Hyderabad, Jan 6 (NationPress) On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi conducted a virtual inauguration of the Charlapalli Railway Terminal in Hyderabad, asserting that this development would enhance regional growth.

This terminal is the fourth of its kind in Telangana, following Secunderabad, Hyderabad, and Kacheguda.

Situated in the Medchal-Malkajgiri district on the eastern flank of Hyderabad, this facility has been established as a new coaching terminal, featuring a second entry, with an investment of approximately Rs 413 crore.

The Prime Minister underscored its ability to promote regional development via its connection to the Outer Ring Road.

“This station, linked to the Outer Ring Road, will greatly enhance development in the area,” he remarked.

PM Modi also pointed out the terminal’s state-of-the-art amenities, including modern platforms, lifts, escalators, and solar-powered operations, stating, “This represents progress in establishing sustainable infrastructure.”

He mentioned that the new terminal will alleviate congestion at current stations in Secunderabad, Hyderabad, and Kacheguda, thus improving travel convenience for the populace.

This eco-friendly terminal, equipped with excellent passenger amenities, will reduce overcrowding at existing coaching terminals in the city.

Notable attendees at the inauguration ceremony at the new terminal included Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma, Union Minister for Coal and Mines and Telangana BJP president G. Kishan Reddy, Union Minister of State for Railways V. Somanna, Union Minister of State for Coal Bandi Sanjay Kumar, and Telangana’s IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu, along with South Central Railways (SCR) General Manager Arun Kumar Jain.

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy participated virtually, urging the Prime Minister to approve the Regional Ring Rail for Hyderabad.

The Charlapalli terminal is designed to accommodate an additional 15 pairs of trains, featuring four new high-level platforms.

The five existing platforms have been extended to facilitate full-length trains.

Furthermore, there are another 10 lines available, increasing the total capacity to 19 lines.

The new facility includes spacious concourse areas, an illuminated facade, two ample foot-over-bridges, and both lifts and escalators.

A 12-metre-wide foot-over-bridge connects all platforms directly from the concourse, while a six-metre-wide foot-over-bridge facilitates inter-platform movement.

The station building consists of six booking counters, separate waiting areas for men and women, along with an upper-class waiting lounge and an executive lounge located on the ground floor.

Additionally, the first floor features a cafeteria, restaurant, and restroom facilities.

All nine platforms will have escalators and lifts, totaling seven lifts and six escalators to assist passenger movement.

Moreover, the terminal will include coach maintenance facilities for managing originating and terminating trains at the station.
