Chandigarh, Sep 29 (NationPress) In a shocking incident, the Haryana Police apprehended a school principal and a bus driver after they allegedly assaulted a Class 2 student from a private primary school in Panipat. The young boy was reportedly tied upside down to a window by the driver at Srijan Public School.
The seven-year-old suffered physical mistreatment at the hands of the bus driver, who was seen in a video striking the child. Another disturbing clip revealed the principal slapping two students repeatedly and yanking one student's ears in front of their peers.
According to Panipat’s Deputy Superintendent of Police, Satish Vats, both the principal and driver have been taken into custody.
The incident reportedly occurred on August 13, but the victim's family only became aware of it on September 27, after the bus driver posted a video on social media showing the boy bound and suspended.
Both Reena, the principal, and Ajay, the driver, now face charges under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Act, including voluntarily causing hurt, wrongful confinement, and criminal intimidation, as well as Section 75 of the Juvenile Justice Act.
When questioned about her actions, the principal claimed they were disciplining the boy for misbehavior with two girls, asserting she informed the parents that same day.
She acknowledged that she had summoned the driver to reprimand the student for incomplete homework but only learned about the corporal punishment when the parents raised the issue during a visit on Saturday.
Upon discovering the driver’s inappropriate behavior—where the boy was bound and hung from a window in his school uniform—she stated that she terminated his employment on August 30. However, some parents accused the principal of routinely enforcing corporal punishment by making students clean classrooms and toilets.
