Deoghar (Jharkhand), April 20 (NationPress) Tension filled the air in Bariyarpur village, located in the Devipur police station area of Deoghar district, Jharkhand, following the vandalism of a statue of Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar. This despicable act sparked a wave of public anger.
Numerous local residents took to the streets in protest, insisting on the prompt identification and apprehension of those responsible.
The protesters demanded rigorous action against the offenders, labeling the incident as an affront to the dignity of a revered national figure.
Upon learning of the situation, Jharkhand Minority Welfare Minister Hafizul Hasan Ansari, Deoghar MLA and RJD leader Suresh Paswan, along with Deoghar Superintendent of Police (SP) Ashok Kumar Singh, hurried to the village on Sunday to calm the agitated crowd.
Minister Ansari assured the community that a new statue of Babasaheb would be erected within 24 hours. He instructed the district administration to take swift and stringent measures against those involved in the vandalism.
This incident occurred shortly after a smaller statue of Dr Ambedkar was installed in the village. The news of the vandalism spread rapidly, leading residents from Bariyarpur and nearby areas to unite in protest.
SP Ashok Singh and a police contingent arrived to evaluate the situation and uphold law and order. Subsequently, MLA Paswan and Minister Ansari engaged with locals to gauge the developments.
Speaking to the press, Minister Ansari stated, “The individual who disrespected the statue of the great man who championed the rights of equality and dignity for marginalized sections will face consequences. The Hemant Soren government will ensure that Babasaheb’s honor is preserved at all costs.”
He reiterated that a new statue of Dr Ambedkar would be installed in the village within the next 24 hours.
