Rescue operations included the use of a crane to remove debris from the collapsed structure.
“The bridge collapsed while people were on it, with around 20 to 25 individuals present at that moment. We have recovered two bodies so far, and the search for others continues,” a rescue worker informed IANS.
An eyewitness, who was trapped on the bridge, shared with IANS, “The structure was already trembling, but people kept coming on. There were approximately 40 to 50 people.”
Vikas Nikam, related to Amol Ghule, who sustained injuries in the incident, recounted, “He was en route to the hospital when the bridge gave way. It was so frail that it collapsed. He was going to fetch his wife’s MRI report and ended up in an accident.”
The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), leading the rescue, updated that 39 individuals have been rescued and four bodies recovered, with operations still in progress.
