Punjab AAP Criticizes BJP MP Jangra’s Comments on Farmers

Chandigarh, Dec 13 (NationPress) The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) expressed strong disapproval on Friday of the remarks made by BJP MP (Rajya Sabha) Ram Chander Jangra regarding farmers and the residents of Punjab.
The Punjab unit of AAP stated that the MP's allegations about the supposed disappearance of 700 women during the farmers' protest and accusations against Punjabis for promoting drugs demonstrate a biased and malicious attitude.
AAP spokesperson Neel Garg remarked, “These offensive comments are not merely isolated occurrences but part of a deliberate strategy by BJP officials to tarnish the reputation of Punjabis and farmers. Even if the BJP later tries to distance itself by claiming these are personal statements, it is clear that these remarks reflect the BJP’s divisive agenda and mindset.”
Garg highlighted that the farmers' movement was a significant struggle that received widespread attention both nationally and internationally, along with comprehensive media coverage. “If such unfounded allegations were indeed true, they would have been reported widely.”
He raised concerns about the motives behind such statements, asserting that these remarks represent “a continuation of the BJP’s efforts to undermine the farmers who compelled the central government to revoke the controversial farm laws.”
“Rather than offering an apology for their failure to address the farmers' grievances and the heavy-handed tactics used during the protests, BJP leaders are opting to disseminate falsehoods and propaganda. These comments are an affront not only to the farmers but to all Indians who supported them,” Garg emphasized.
The AAP is calling for an unreserved apology from the BJP’s central leadership for this disgraceful statement. “We urge the BJP to ensure that no representative makes such unfounded and divisive comments against Punjabis or farmers in the future. The BJP must recognize and apologize for its divisive mindset that continues to undermine the unity of this nation,” Garg added.
He also appealed to the populace to reject and counter the BJP’s efforts to damage the reputation of Punjabis.
