Chandigarh, Jan 22 (NationPress) The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Punjab has criticized BJP leader Parvesh Verma for his offensive and divisive comments aimed at Punjabis.

AAP MP Malvinder Singh Kang, together with spokesperson Neel Garg, condemned the BJP and its leadership for fostering a culture of hatred and division. Kang denounced Verma for suggesting that vehicles registered in Punjab in Delhi might be part of a conspiracy as Republic Day approaches.

“BJP leader Parvesh Verma has clearly shown the anti-Punjab attitude of his party. His unfounded accusations against Punjabis demonstrate the BJP’s ingrained bias against the people of Punjab,” he stated during a press briefing. Kang emphasized that Punjabis have been essential in both Delhi’s progress and in India’s independence movement.

“Delhi’s advancement is attributed to the sacrifices and contributions of Punjabis. From fighting for India’s freedom to transforming Delhi’s landscape, Punjabis have consistently been at the forefront. To label them as terrorists is not only an affront to Punjab but to the entire country,” Kang remarked. He criticized the timing and motivation behind Verma’s statements, alleging that the BJP is employing polarizing strategies as elections in Delhi approach.

“As elections draw near, the BJP resorts to fear-mongering and division. Punjab-registered vehicles are being unfairly targeted, while Delhi is a national capital where every citizen should have the right to travel and reside. Such remarks are divisive and unconstitutional,” Kang stated. He labeled Verma’s comments as a betrayal of national unity, demanding an apology from him and decisive action from Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“I call on the PM to take action against Verma for his disgraceful comments. Should he fail to act, the BJP must publicly apologize to Punjabis,” Kang insisted. The AAP MP also urged voters in Delhi to reject the BJP’s divisive politics. “The residents of Delhi must teach these hateful and divisive leaders a lesson on February 5. They have insulted Punjabis and the nation with their statements. This is not merely a Punjab issue; it affects every Indian who values unity and democracy.”

“The BJP needs to clarify its position or be prepared to face public backlash. Punjabis have always been the backbone of this nation, and such remarks will not be accepted,” Kang concluded.
