Chandigarh, March 19 (NationPress) The President of Punjab BJP, Sunil Jakhar, asserted on Thursday that both AAP and Congress are collaborating to mislead the public, diverting their focus from pressing state issues. Jakhar condemned the misinformation campaigns directed at the Central government and the BJP, emphasizing that such actions could endanger Punjab's future, especially given its border status.

He pointed out that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has acknowledged receiving Rs 13,000 crore from the Centre for disaster relief but revealed that only Rs 477 crore was utilized, with the remainder mismanaged by past administrations.

Jakhar expressed astonishment at the delay in the Chief Minister's review of the treasury records.

He claimed that Congress leaders, whom Mann blames for financial misappropriation, are now serving as defenders of the AAP government in Parliament.

According to Jakhar, Congress has utterly failed in its role as the Opposition, with its leaders either having 'sold their voice' to Mann or being rendered voiceless due to their own corruption.

He accused both parties of jointly fomenting animosity against the Central government and the BJP.

Jakhar countered the negative narrative against the BJP-led Central government by providing factual data. He highlighted that during the UPA government's tenure, the agriculture budget was Rs 21,933 crore, whereas the BJP has raised it to Rs 1.30 lakh crore.

Furthermore, under the PM-Kisan scheme, a staggering Rs 4.27 lakh crore has been transferred directly to farmers' accounts. Fertilizer subsidies have also surged from Rs 18,460 crore during the UPA era to Rs 1.77 lakh crore this year under the BJP administration.

In his critique of the Chief Minister, Jakhar questioned why the state government has yet to implement its own agricultural policy, noting that a draft has been ready since October 2023. He urged for clarity on what steps are being taken regarding any policy shortcomings.

Point of View

The alliance between AAP and Congress raises significant questions about political integrity and accountability. The allegations of misinformation and financial mismanagement reflect broader concerns about governance in Punjab. The dynamics between these parties and their impact on state issues warrant close scrutiny as they unfold.
