He noted that during discussions, Ogawa Kazunori, Senior Managing Director of the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC), expressed keen interest in reviewing the state's proposals for industrial and clean-energy projects.
He added that they agreed to pursue ongoing technical discussions regarding potential financing channels through the Japanese entity. The bank also welcomed the invitation to the investors' summit and expressed willingness to engage in future collaborations.
The Chief Minister elaborated that Tomonori Kai and Toru Nakane, CEO and EVP, respectively, of Aisan Industry Co. Ltd, showed intent to explore manufacturing or R&D opportunities in Punjab. Additionally, Tanaka Hiroki and Suzuki Mari from Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd shared their interest in investigating future avenues related to EV mobility, R&D partnerships, and skill enhancement initiatives.
Mann noted their acceptance of the Summit 2026 invitation and their eagerness to remain involved with Punjab’s investment facilitation network. During discussions with Honda Motor Co., Ltd, Department Manager Tatsuya Nakamura and ITO Kiyoshi indicated they are in the process of exploring component manufacturing with Indian partners in Punjab. Mann assured them of complete facilitation and policy support while extending an invitation for PPIS 2026.
He mentioned that Yamada Tetsuya, Director General of the South Asia Department at the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), reiterated their commitment to supporting Punjab’s development initiatives through technical cooperation and capacity-building programs, particularly in crop diversification.
Mann indicated that discussions with JICA revolved around potential partnerships in urban infrastructure, water management, and skill development, with JICA showing readiness for deeper engagement. Similarly, Hajime Ishii, Senior Vice President of Toray Industries, expressed interest in technical textiles and composites for Punjab's automotive and aerospace industries.
The Chief Minister also mentioned that Komori Takuo, Parliamentary Vice Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, agreed to continue coordination to connect Japanese firms with Invest Punjab. Likewise, Jungo Okai, Head of Technology Business Management Unit at Fujitsu Ltd, showed interest in digital governance solutions, promising to explore projects in Mohali.
On the second day of his trip, Mann met with NEC Corporation, where Director Makoto Noda and Manager Miho Hara expressed interest in digital initiatives and industrial automation opportunities, agreeing to evaluate the IT ecosystem for collaboration.
He announced that a non-binding MoU was signed between Toppan and Invest Punjab to co-develop a Skilling Excellence Centre in line with industry demands. During a meeting with the Indian Diaspora and Local Stakeholders, emphasis was placed on strengthening ties with the diaspora to foster long-term partnerships.
Mann noted the importance of encouraging diaspora-led investments in key sectors such as manufacturing, technology, and services. On day three, a meeting at Aichi Steel's headquarters included Chairman Fujioka Takahiro and President Ito Toshio, who welcomed the Summit invitation and expressed interest in expanding their investments.
Additionally, during a meeting with the Seoul Business Agency (SBA), participants recognized the strong alignment between Seoul’s technological capabilities and Punjab’s developing IT, electronics, and startup ecosystem. At the Korea National Sports University (KNSU), Punjab expressed interest in MoUs for sports-specific training and academic exchanges.
Mann stated that KNSU welcomed the proposals and acknowledged Punjab’s robust sports performance, extending an invitation for KNSU to visit Jalandhar, known as the sports city of the state. The Chief Minister highlighted the overwhelming response to the Tourism Roadshow in Seoul, with over ten representatives from various tour operators interested in exploring Punjab’s tourism potential.
He added that during discussions with Sunjin, the company plans to enhance its animal feed capacity in Punjab and intends to establish poultry and dairy businesses within the state.
Mann concluded that while the Japanese and South Koreans possess advanced technology, Punjab boasts highly innovative and dedicated talent, envisioning that the upcoming Progressive Punjab Investor Summit will create a harmonious blend of technology and talent.
