Punjab Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Kewal Singh Dhillon on Sunday, 9 August confirmed that a key organisational meeting was held in New Delhi with party President Nitin Nabin and state In-charge Satish Poonia to chalk out a comprehensive strategy for the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections. The meeting focused on strengthening the BJP's grassroots presence across the state and addressing Punjab's most pressing concerns.

What the Delhi Meeting Covered

According to Dhillon, the discussions centred on a future roadmap anchored around four core issues: agriculture, youth employment, border security, and urban development. The meeting is being seen as an early signal that the BJP is moving into election mode well ahead of the 2027 polls, with senior central leadership directly involved in state-level planning.

Dhillon said that in the coming days, dedicated teams will be constituted at the level of every district, every mandal, and every village — a booth-level mobilisation drive the party believes will translate into electoral gains.

BJP's Offensive Against AAP Government

Dhillon launched a pointed attack on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Punjab, stating that the state is 'grappling with crises such as the scourge of drugs, deteriorating law and order, and the migration of the youth abroad, but the ruling party has no concrete solution to these problems.' He argued that the BJP is committed to making Punjab 'a safe, prosperous, and progressive state once again.'

The party has reportedly widened its outreach on issues including the drug menace, unemployment, deteriorating law and order, and the farm crisis — running contact programmes at both village and city levels to promote Central government schemes directly to families.

Har Ghar Tiranga and Samarasta Campaigns

Ahead of Independence Day, Dhillon said the BJP is running the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign across Punjab from 9 to 14 August. Tiranga Yatras are being organised in every district, city, and village, encouraging residents to hoist the National Flag at their homes. Punjab, Dhillon noted, holds special significance as both a border state and a land of martyrs.

Separately, under the nationwide 'Samarasta Sankalp Abhiyan' — tied to the 650th birth anniversary of Guru Ravidas — a Kalash Yatra carrying sacred soil from the Guru's birthplace is travelling through villages across Punjab, with a particular focus on the Doaba region, which has a significant Dalit population. Dhillon said the yatra is spreading the message of social harmony rooted in Guru Ravidas's teachings.

With the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections still roughly two years away, the BJP's early push signals a long-game strategy — building organisational depth at the booth level while positioning the party as the credible alternative to the AAP government. How effectively the party translates this outreach into votes in a state where it currently lacks a ruling foothold will be closely watched.
