Chandigarh, Jan 12 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Punjab, Bhagwant Singh Mann, officially launched the inaugural Startup Punjab Conclave at a private university located in the Kapurthala district on Monday.
This event, organized by the Department of Industries and Commerce, serves as a premier state-level forum dedicated to honoring innovation, entrepreneurship, and the burgeoning startup ecosystem within the state.
With participation from over 100 startups, the disbursement of seed grants, and a gathering of industry leaders, investors, incubators, academic professionals, and policymakers, the government conveyed its strong institutional support for new business initiatives, encouraging the youth to become job creators.
During his interaction with entrepreneurs, the Chief Minister emphasized the government’s vision to shift Punjab’s youth from being job seekers to becoming job givers, enabling them to establish a unique identity for themselves.
“Our aim is for the youth to become job givers rather than job seekers, allowing them to create their own niche,” he remarked, highlighting that Punjabis possess natural engineering skills and entrepreneurial spirit, which contributes to their success in various endeavors.
The Chief Minister assured that the government is wholeheartedly dedicated to fulfilling the aspirations of the people of Punjab and promised to leave no stone unturned in this pursuit. He introduced the phrase “update and create,” stating, “There is no shortage of funds, and the government is ready to support every viable idea presented by business leaders.”
Reflecting on his recent trip to Japan, he noted that nations thrive through a clear vision for their future. “In Japan, all modes of transportation are accessible through a single window. They have a forward-looking perspective,” he stated.
CM Mann mentioned that more than 15 incubators and over five support organizations from Punjab are showcasing their initiatives at the conclave. The government is also distributing special incentive checks to eight startups, with seven startups receiving Rs 3 lakh each as seed grants and one startup obtaining Rs 1.20 lakh for lease rental assistance.
“Startups are not merely businesses; they are pivotal engines for generating new jobs and stimulating the economic growth of the state,” the Chief Minister concluded.
