Punjab Congress Criticizes CM Mann for Neglecting Farmers
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Chandigarh, March 4 (NationPress) In light of the police conducting raids on the residences of farmer leaders ahead of the protest in Chandigarh on Wednesday, Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee President Amarinder Singh Raja Warring has criticized Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann for neglecting the farmers.
On Tuesday, Warring accused the Chief Minister of exhibiting arrogance and a dismissing attitude towards the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM).
He remarked that instead of engaging in meaningful dialogues to address the farmers' issues, the government has opted to conduct raids on the homes of agricultural leaders.
"This underscores the Aam Aadmi Party's position as merely an extension of the BJP, continuously betraying the faith and interests of Punjab's farming community," Warring stated.
Highlighting the government's failures, the Member of Parliament noted, "For the last three years, the Aam Aadmi Party has completely failed to deliver on its promises to the people of Punjab. Now, after suffering a significant defeat in Delhi, they are desperately attempting to draw attention with insincere efforts like their superficial anti-drug campaign, which is nothing but a staged performance."
Warring challenged the government's mismanagement of the ongoing farmer protests. "The Chief Minister must realize that farmers are not his enemies. They are the backbone of our economy and the cornerstone of Punjab's success. When farmers thrive, Punjab flourishes, markets prosper, small businesses gain, and families benefit. Yet, instead of honoring their contributions, this government resorts to arresting them. Is this how you treat those who feed the nation?" he questioned.
Critiquing CM Mann for his ineffective leadership, he stated, "For more than a year, our farmers have been protesting, and tragically, one leader has even risked his life for the cause. Yet, the Chief Minister has chosen to ignore their voices."
