Congress Criticizes AAP's Inaction on Municipal Election Issues in Punjab

Chandigarh, Dec 16 (NationPress) The President of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee, Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, took aim at the ruling AAP on Monday, highlighting its inability to tackle issues linked to the current municipal council elections.
Starting his day at the Khanauri border, the Ludhiana MP engaged with farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal, who is currently on his 21st day of a hunger strike for his cause. Warring characterized Dallewal's struggle as a movement for all Punjabis, symbolizing the unwavering spirit of farmers, who serve as the backbone of the nation.
Warring criticized the Central government for its apathy towards farmers' demands, stating, “The treatment of our farmers by the Central government is unacceptable. I urge all Punjabis to stand together and support Dallewal-ji in this fight for our rights. The Congress Party has consistently stood by the farmers and will continue to do so.”
He pointed out that this matter has been persistently raised in Parliament and noted that Rahul Gandhi has and will continue to highlight farmers' issues on national platforms.
Following his visit to Khanauri, Warring proceeded to Samana, where he engaged with local leaders and spoke out against the injustices faced by opposition parties during the recent municipal council election nominations. “The AAP government has sunk to new lows, sabotaging nomination papers, utilizing administrative power to suppress opposition candidates, and physically assaulting women candidates,” he remarked.
He denounced these acts as direct assaults on democracy and pledged to escalate the matter to the Election Commission, the High Court, and the Supreme Court in pursuit of justice. “We will not allow democracy to be undermined by the AAP’s abuse of authority. The people of Punjab will remember these injustices and will show the AAP government the exit,” he asserted.
While addressing the media in Patiala, Warring lambasted the declining governance under the AAP. “The Aam Aadmi Party has already devastated Punjab’s law and order, healthcare, and education sectors, and now they are eroding democracy itself. We demand that the municipal elections be restarted in a fair and transparent manner, devoid of AAP’s oppressive influence. FIRs must be lodged against those who assaulted and demeaned our women candidates.”
Patiala MP Dharamvira Gandhi and other Congress leaders rallied behind Warring in denouncing the AAP's methods, labeling them a blatant violation of constitutional principles.
