Has Punjab Introduced a New Registration Portal for Play-Way Schools?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Chandigarh, Jan 21 (NationPress) The government of Punjab has unveiled a registration portal specifically for play-way schools, aimed at ensuring thorough oversight of children’s education, safety, and holistic development, as stated by the Minister for Social Security, Women and Child Development, Baljit Kaur.
"It is essential for all play-way establishments across Punjab, including private schools providing education to children under six, to register on this portal," she explained.
The Minister highlighted that a standardized curriculum for children under six is currently being developed, which will be uniformly adopted in Anganwadi centres, play-way schools, and primary schools.
"Training for Anganwadi workers and supervisors is scheduled to be completed by mid-February. We aim to deliver education through engaging and creative activities rather than overwhelming children with books," she emphasized.
Minister Kaur also pointed out the critical nature of early childhood care, stating, "Approximately 90% of a child's brain development occurs between the ages of zero and six years. Thus, delivering quality education and adequate nutrition during this vital period is a primary focus of the Punjab government."
Additionally, she mentioned that under Mission Aarambh, parents have been actively involved in their children’s daily learning journey.
"We are sharing digital content that encourages children to learn alongside their parents at home. To date, 2,941 parent groups have been established under this initiative to enhance parental engagement in children's cognitive growth. Parents receive daily activity notifications on their phones to help them participate in their children's educational progress at home," she added.
On infrastructure advancements, the Minister stated, "We are on track to construct 1,000 new Anganwadi centres. Each centre is being developed at a cost of Rs 100 crore, with approximately Rs 10 lakh allocated for each centre. So far, 700 centres have been completed, featuring well-ventilated rooms, proper kitchens, and toilets. The remaining 300 centres will also be finalized shortly."
