Chandigarh, July 7 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Punjab, Bhagwant Mann, along with Arvind Kejriwal, the national convener of the Aam Aadmi Party, inaugurated a state-of-the-art 15 MGD (million gallons per day) sewage treatment facility in Mohali, built at a cost of Rs 145.26 crore.
During a press interaction following the inauguration, the Chief Minister emphasized that advanced technology has been implemented in the establishment of this plant, which is set to be replicated in other regions of the state.
He highlighted the initiative's aim to conserve the state's water by ensuring the efficient use of wastewater.
Referencing Singapore's use of micro-filter technology for converting rainwater into potable water, Mann stated that similar strategies are being pursued in Punjab to safeguard water resources.
“Water, air, and land do not have votes, and therefore, traditional leaders have neglected these critical issues, leading to severe pollution and degradation of these essential resources,” Mann remarked, noting the significant societal losses caused by such negligence.
Since the AAP government took office, efforts have been directed toward environmental protection, revitalizing the canal system, and implementing other commendable initiatives for societal benefit.
The Chief Minister reiterated that steps are being taken to ensure that water is treated with the best available technology, preserving it for future generations.
Expressing his pride, Kejriwal stated that it is gratifying to see the inauguration of this 15 MGD sewage treatment plant, which has been upgraded from its previous 10 MGD capacity at a total investment of Rs 145.26 crore.
