New Delhi, June 19 (NationPress) The historic Qutub Minar will provide a stunning backdrop for the celebration of the International Day of Yoga as Indiatourism Delhi organizes an event at the monument to showcase the nation's enduring wellness heritage and its dedication to global well-being, as stated by an official.
“Indiatourism Delhi, under the guidance of the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, is set to host a Mass Yoga Session on June 21, 2025, from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. at the renowned Sun Dial Lawns of the Qutub Minar Complex, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, to commemorate the International Day of Yoga,” the official remarked.
In addition to the event at Qutub, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, along with Ministers and MPs, will conduct 11 distinct yoga sessions on Saturday to advocate for a healthy lifestyle.
The yoga session at Qutub will be led by the esteemed Yoga Guru Gopal Rishi and his team, who will guide participants through a range of holistic yoga practices aimed at enhancing physical strength, mental well-being, and inner tranquility.
Special guests from Malaysia, including Sri Lanka’s Deputy High Commissioner Priyanga Wickramasinghe and Minister Counsellor Wathsala Amarasinghe, will also participate in the event.
An official stated: “Celebrating yoga amid the historic backdrop of Qutub Minar signifies the lasting legacy of India’s spiritual traditions and the country's leadership in advocating holistic health globally. This event aligns with India's vision of establishing itself as a global hub for wellness tourism.”
Approximately 400 participants representing the Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO), Association of Domestic Tour Operators of India (ADTOI), Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI), regional tourist guides, as well as students from Yuva Tourism Clubs and faculty from Institutes of Hotel Management (IHMs) are expected to join the event.
Additionally, the District Manager of South District, officials from the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), the Ministry of Tourism, and local citizens are anticipated to participate in this significant event.
