Hyderabad, Dec 22 (NationPress) The total crime rate within the Rachakonda Commissionerate, which is part of Greater Hyderabad's police structure, has seen an increase of 15.4 percent for the year 2025.
This commissionerate, encompassing urban, semi-urban, and rural locales, documented 30,040 cases in 2025, a rise from 28,626 cases recorded in 2024.
Crimes such as bodily and other offences surged from 22,357 cases in 2024 to 27,342 cases in 2025. The instances of kidnapping also escalated from 463 to 579.
On the other hand, property crimes, including robbery, home burglary, and vehicle theft, witnessed a decrease.
During a press conference, Rachakonda Police Commissioner G. Sudheer Babu unveiled the annual report, indicating that crime against women rose by four percent.
Although categories such as dowry murders, dowry deaths, suicide abetment, domestic violence, and rapes fell by 25 percent, kidnappings, molestation, and POCSO cases soared by 52 percent.
Cybercrime incidents saw a decline of approximately 19 percent in 2025 compared to the previous year. The number of reported cybercrime cases dropped from 4,618 in 2024 to 3,734 in 2025.
Major cybercrime types included investment fraud, part-time job scams, unauthorized transactions, APK file frauds, and digital arrest scams.
The police successfully refunded or returned Rs 40.10 crore to victims of cyber fraud during the year.
The commissioner stated that 955 cyber awareness programs were conducted, reaching over one lakh people across the commissionerate.
Drugs valued at Rs 20 crore were confiscated, comprising 2,090 kg of Ganja. A total of 256 cases were filed under the NDPS Act, leading to the arrest of 668 individuals.
Road accidents also rose from 3,207 in 2024 to 3,488 in 2025. The number of fatalities reached 659, a slight increase from 653 the prior year.
According to the report, accidents on the Outer Ring Road (ORR) increased from 52 in 2024 to 76 in 2025, with deaths climbing to 80 from 31 in the previous year.
The Police Commissioner emphasized that their strategy this year was based on the VQT Principle - Visible presence, Quick response, and Technology-driven initiatives.
"Covering a vast area of 5,122 square kilometers and serving a population of 64 lakh citizens, we have shown that effective and compassionate policing can overcome scale and complexity," he remarked.
He further stated, "The success of this year is founded on a dual approach of strict enforcement and citizen-oriented compassion. Our operational efficiency is highlighted by the registration of 33,040 cases and the resolution of 25,643 cases (78 percent), demonstrating a commitment to timely justice," concluded the Commissioner.
