New Delhi, Feb 28 (NationPress) In a significant event celebrating the graduates as key players in shaping a Viksit Bharat by 2047, Vice-President and Delhi University (DU) Chancellor, C.P. Radhakrishnan, awarded degrees to over 1.2 lakh students during the university's 102nd Convocation.
The Vice-President emphasized the growing academic reputation of DU, stating that whether the graduates pursue careers as scientists, civil servants, entrepreneurs, artists, lawyers, educators, or innovators, they hold the potential to transform India by 2047, as per the official announcement.
He noted that the success of 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat' (Self-Reliant India) and 'Viksit Bharat' (Developed India) hinges on their integrity, skills, compassion, and inventive mindset.
Highlighting the importance of youth in the pursuit of a Viksit Bharat by 2047, he remarked that at this pivotal moment, their role becomes increasingly crucial.
Under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India has set forth the vision of becoming 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat' and developing 'Viksit Bharat' by the year 2047, marking a century of independence, the Vice-President stated.
He asserted that 'Aatmanirbharta' signifies the ability to innovate, produce, research, and devise solutions grounded in Indian contexts but competitive on a global scale.
“Universities must evolve into hubs of research, entrepreneurship, and indigenous knowledge systems,” he emphasized.
'Viksit Bharat', he clarified, signifies inclusive development, technological advancement, social harmony, environmental sustainability, and accountable institutions.
The goal is to ensure that progress reaches every citizen and that opportunities become accessible to all, he added.
Expressing satisfaction, the Vice-President highlighted that over 50% of the graduates and 70% of the gold medallists were women, with the number of degrees conferred to women surpassing that of men.
This, he noted, reflects the remarkable advancement in women’s education across India.
He encouraged graduates to embrace a spirit of inquiry and to acknowledge that learning is a lifelong journey.
Radhakrishnan urged them to remain thankful for their opportunities and aware of the responsibilities that accompany them, advocating for a stance against drugs and the constructive use of social media.
Describing Delhi University as one of India's premier institutions, he stated that for over a century, it has fostered minds that have significantly influenced India's intellectual, political, scientific, and cultural realms.
As graduates, they now join a prestigious lineage of alumni who have impacted not just India but the global landscape.
He concluded by stating that the DU Convocation symbolizes more than a ceremonial occasion; it represents both an end and a beginning.
“It celebrates years of dedication, friendships, examinations, and self-discovery, while also marking their formal entry into a broader realm of responsibility,” he said.
