Chief Minister Gupta remarked that the event symbolizes years of diligence, discipline, and commitment from the students.
“Today’s graduates are the genuine catalysts for ‘Viksit Bharat’. Your skills and potential will elevate the nation on the international platform,” she stated, motivating students to leverage their education for the benefit of others.
Attendees included Vice-Chancellor Mahesh Verma of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Yogesh Singh, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Delhi, along with students, parents, faculty, and other dignitaries.
The Lieutenant Governor underscored the importance of education in equipping students with adaptability, critical thinking, and the courage to innovate.
Referencing the Prime Minister’s vision for Viksit Bharat @2047, he articulated that the nation requires problem-solvers to address intricate issues in sectors like urban development, public health, and digital governance.
Drawing inspiration from the teachings of Guru Gobind Singh, he characterized knowledge as a vital tool for justice and service, urging students to view their education as a societal and national obligation.
He expressed optimism that the future of both Delhi and India is secure in the hands of youth capable of fostering significant change.
The Chief Minister also commended the university for its initiatives in emerging sectors such as AI, robotics, data science, and design innovation.
She highlighted the Atal Incubation Centre, which has facilitated over 170 startups, enabling young individuals to transition from job seekers to job creators.
Detailing the government’s focus, she noted that the education budget for Delhi has increased to Rs 19,326 crore this year.
“Our goal is not only to enhance school facilities but also to provide world-class amenities in higher education,” she stated, mentioning that more than 2,200 students are receiving free coaching for competitive exams such as JEE, NEET, and CLAT.
A total of 26,649 degrees were conferred during the convocation, encompassing 22,932 undergraduate, 3,582 postgraduate, 11 MPhil, and 124 PhD degrees.
Significantly, women comprised 70 percent of this year’s PhD recipients. Additionally, 76 gold medals and six memorial awards were awarded to outstanding students.
