Mumbai, June 5 (NationPress) In a groundbreaking announcement, French aerospace leader Dassault Aviation and Tata Advanced Systems Limited formalized four production transfer agreements to produce the Rafale fighter aircraft fuselage in India. This pivotal move enhances the nation’s aerospace manufacturing capabilities while bolstering global supply chains.
Tata Advanced Systems is set to establish a state-of-the-art production facility in Hyderabad for the fabrication of crucial structural components of the Rafale, which include the lateral shells of the rear fuselage, the complete rear section, the central fuselage, and the front section.
The initial fuselage components are projected to emerge from the assembly line in FY2028, with the facility aiming to produce up to two complete fuselages monthly.
“For the first time, Rafale fuselages will be manufactured outside of France. This represents a significant advancement in enhancing our supply chain in India. Thanks to the development of local partnerships, including TASL, a prominent player in the Indian aerospace sector, this supply chain will aid in the successful ramp-up of the Rafale, and with our guidance, will fulfill our quality and competitiveness standards,” stated Eric Trappier, Chairman and CEO of Dassault Aviation.

Earlier this April, India entered into a landmark Rs 63,000 crore deal with France to acquire 26 Rafale-Marine fighter jets, which will bolster the Indian Navy amid escalating security concerns regarding China’s maritime assertiveness in the Indo-Pacific region.
The procurement will occur under an Inter-Governmental Agreement, ensuring direct deliveries without intermediaries. The contract includes 22 single-seater jets and four twin-seater trainers, with delivery completion anticipated by 2031.
