New Delhi, June 24 (NationPress) BJP leader Amit Malviya has accused Congress leader Rahul Gandhi of taking secret foreign vacations, asserting that as the Leader of Opposition (LoP), he owes the citizens of India an explanation. In a post shared on his X account, Malviya indicated that Gandhi had been abroad the previous week and has since left again for another undisclosed destination.
“Rahul Gandhi was spotted on a secret foreign holiday just last week. Now, he has flown abroad once more -- to yet another undisclosed location,” Malviya stated.
He raised concerns regarding these mysterious trips, insisting that, in his role as LoP, Gandhi must provide answers. “What prompts these frequent absences? What necessity drives him to leave India so often? As the Leader of the Opposition, he must respond to the citizens of India,” Malviya elaborated in his post.
The Congress party quickly refuted Malviya's allegations, accusing the PMO of engaging in deceitful practices. Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera clarified on his X account that Rahul Gandhi has traveled to London to participate in his niece's graduation ceremony.
“The Prime Minister's Office is resorting to its usual underhanded tactics. Their repertoire includes nothing but these cheap tricks. Mr. Rahul Gandhi is in London for his niece's graduation and will return shortly,” Khera wrote on X.
Concerns regarding Rahul Gandhi’s numerous international trips have long persisted.
Recently, when Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge visited the Air India plane crash site in Ahmedabad, Gandhi's absence raised suspicions. However, he took to X to express his sorrow, describing the situation as heartbreaking, and urged Congress members to provide assistance on the ground.
He was later seen on June 19, the day his mother, Sonia Gandhi, was released from a hospital in the national capital where she had been admitted on June 15. A photograph captured him bringing gifts as he celebrated his birthday alongside his mother and hospital staff.
Despite Malviya, the BJP’s head of National Information and Technology Department, highlighting Rahul Gandhi’s sporadic presence and foreign travels, Gandhi has maintained an active presence on social media.
On June 21, he criticized the Modi government's 'Make in India' initiative, stating, “...We assemble, import, but don’t build. China profits': 'Clock is ticking.” He also posted a video from his visit to Nehru Place, Delhi's largest electronics market, where he interacted with two mobile repair technicians.
