Kolkata, February 26 (NationPress) - A notice has been issued by the Lalgola police station in West Bengal to Raihan Ali, who is the son-in-law of the suspended Trinamool Congress leader and Bharatpur MLA, Humayun Kabir, concerning a heroin smuggling investigation.

Raihan is required to meet with the investigating officer by 11 AM on February 28.

As Raihan was not at home, the notice was delivered to his family members, according to police sources.

Humayun Kabir has alleged that his son-in-law is being unjustly accused in this case.

"If he is taken into custody, there will be repercussions for the government," Kabir stated.

The police have initiated a case against Raihan under the Narcotics Control Act (NDPS).

Earlier, on February 8 and 9, authorities seized assets belonging to Raihan, his father Shariful Islam, and Kabir's daughter Nazma Sultana while conducting their investigation.

According to investigators, they have identified approximately 11 properties, both movable and immovable, that were allegedly acquired with drug money, with a total market value exceeding 15 crore rupees.

Kabir, however, strongly denies the allegations against his son-in-law, asserting that this is part of a larger political scheme.

He claims, "Recently, Raihan was pressured to join the Trinamool party, with promises of contesting from the Lalgola Assembly seat."

After rejecting this proposal, Kabir believes Raihan was falsely implicated in this case.

He also mentioned that Raihan will not seek anticipatory bail and will not appear at the police station on the scheduled date.

In a stern warning, Kabir stated, "Should my son-in-law be arrested, the government will face consequences."

An official from the Murshidabad district police confirmed that the investigation is based on solid evidence.
