Rajasthan BJP Highlights Significant Advances in TB Elimination Efforts

Jaipur, Dec 12 (NationPress) The Rajasthan BJP president and Rajya Sabha MP Madan Rathore on Thursday underscored the impressive strides made under the Union Health Ministry’s TB Disease Eradication Programme.
Rathore noted that in 2015, India logged 237 TB cases per 1 lakh population, which has decreased to 195 cases in 2023—a reduction of 17.7 percent over the span of eight years.
The number of TB-related fatalities also fell by 21 percent during this timeframe, as indicated by the response from Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Anupriya Patel to a parliamentary inquiry.
Rathore stressed that the government is dedicated to fighting TB by offering free medications and diagnostic services while also addressing societal misconceptions surrounding the disease.
“Financial assistance of ₹500 per month is provided to TB patients via the Ni-Kshay Poshan Yojana to promote better nutrition. Furthermore, the Ni-Kshay Mitra initiative supplies TB patients and their families with additional support, including nutritional, clinical, and vocational help,” he stated.
He mentioned that in Rajasthan, the number of TB cases declined from 1.65 lakh in 2023 to 1.45 lakh by October 2024.
Rathore acknowledged the Union Health Ministry for connecting Ayushman Arogya Mandir with TB testing and treatment services and for targeting high-burden areas with specific interventions.
“Awareness initiatives and the establishment of more molecular diagnostic laboratories at sub-district levels have substantially contributed to the program’s effectiveness,” he asserted.
He concluded that these accomplishments reflect the Union Health Ministry’s dedication to eradicating TB and promoting a healthier future for the nation.
