Jaipur, Sep 29 (NationPress) In a significant achievement, the Jhalawar police in Rajasthan have made a crucial arrest after a criminal evaded capture for five years.

An official confirmed that police apprehended Padam Singh, the president of the Aastha Credit Co-operative Society, in Kota. Singh, who had a reward of Rs 10,000 on his head, was sought in connection with nine fraud and cheque dishonor cases.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Amit Kumar stated that Singh, in conjunction with the society's secretary and treasurer, deceived investors with promises of extraordinary profits.

The complaint from Mohammad Yakub, a resident of Richhwa, alongside six others, highlighted that investors had entrusted significant amounts of money to the society via agents under a daily savings scheme.

“Upon depositing their funds, the society's office abruptly shut down, leading President Padam Singh Jhala, Secretary Giriraj Gupta, and Treasurer Mahendra Pratap Singh to flee,” he explained.

SP Kumar noted that all three accused were declared proclaimed offenders by the court, while the other two secured bail. Padam Singh had successfully eluded police for five years.

“Investigation revealed that the accused and his accomplices exploited the trust of hundreds, offering unrealistic returns,” he said.

Many victims had invested their hard-earned savings, believing these schemes would secure their families' financial futures.

“Instead, they faced devastation when the society abruptly closed and its leaders disappeared,” he added.

The official emphasized that a specialized police team was established under the guidance of Jhalarapatan SHO Harlal Meena to bring the fugitives to justice.

“Based on intelligence, the team located Padam Singh at his rented residence in Rangbari, Kota. They discovered that Singh, son of Roop Singh and a resident of Dubaliya Sunel, frequently changed locations to evade capture. His arrest culminates years of dedicated efforts by law enforcement,” he stated.

Police officials hailed the arrest as a major triumph in their fight against financial fraudsters and proclaimed offenders.

This case serves as a cautionary tale for the public to be wary of schemes that promise unusually high profits. Authorities have assured that stringent action will continue against those who exploit ordinary individuals through fraudulent practices.

While Padam Singh has been apprehended, investigations are ongoing to identify his associates and uncover further connections.
