Jaipur, April 10 (NationPress) Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma emphasized that the well-being of farmers is pivotal to the advancement of both the state and the nation. Reinforcing the government’s dedication to fortifying Rajasthan’s agricultural framework, he noted initiatives are underway to boost farmers’ income through innovation, technology, and supportive policies.
While speaking at the launch event for the Global Rajasthan Agritech Meet (GRAM 2026), which is set to occur from May 23 to 25 in Jaipur, the Chief Minister remarked that this event will serve as a distinctive platform uniting farmers, scientists, investors, and policymakers.
“GRAM 2026 will promote substantial discussions and allow farmers to tap into global expertise, contemporary technologies, and cutting-edge agricultural methodologies,” he stated.
To enhance outreach, the Chief Minister revealed that information camps will be initiated at the Gram Panchayat level starting April 15. These camps will share details about farmer welfare programs and will incorporate suggestion boxes to collect direct feedback from farmers.
Highlighting Rajasthan’s commendable agricultural achievements, the Chief Minister pointed out that the state is a leader in the production of millets, mustard, oilseeds, barley, and guar; it ranks second in moong and groundnuts; and third in soybean production.
He encouraged farmers to embrace scientific farming techniques, reduce reliance on chemical fertilizers, and utilize soil testing for sustainable soil health. He also advocated for the adoption of modern irrigation systems, such as sprinkler systems, for water conservation.
The Chief Minister stated that micro-irrigation solutions have been implemented across 4.8 lakh hectares, with the establishment of 12,476 water storage tanks (diggis) and over 32,918 km of irrigation pipelines.
Under the Chief Minister Mangala Livestock Insurance Scheme, over 1.2 million livestock have been insured at no cost. Moreover, mobile veterinary services have attended to nearly 6 million animals, aiding more than 1.5 million livestock owners.
He also mentioned that through the Mukhyamantri Dugdh Utpadak Sambal Yojana, milk producers are receiving Rs 5 per liter as financial aid.
The Chief Minister underscored that during the 'Rising Rajasthan Global Investment Summit', 2,539 MoUs amounting to over Rs 430 billion were signed in the agriculture sector.
He noted that under the PM-KISAN scheme, farmers receive Rs 6,000 annually, supplemented by an additional Rs 3,000 from the state’s Chief Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme, with intentions to further enhance this support.
Agriculture Minister Kirodi Lal Meena remarked that the government is committed to transitioning farmers towards modern, technology-driven agriculture. He added that GRAM 2026 will link farmers with global specialists and innovations.
During the event, Chief Minister Sharma unveiled the GRAM logo and published the official brochure.
