Rajasthan Congress Claims Anti-Conversion Bill Aims to Split Communities

Jaipur, Dec 2 (NationPress) Rajasthan Congress president Govind Singh Dotasra on Monday criticized the state administration for proposing the anti-conversion bill, asserting that it serves as a political instrument aimed at dividing Hindus and Muslims.
The conversion bill is merely a political mechanism to polarize Hindus and Muslims for electoral advantages. A similar bill was presented during Vasundhara Raje's time as Chief Minister, but it did not pass. When the bill is brought to the Assembly, we will present our case. This action underscores the BJP's tactic of leveraging the Hindu-Muslim narrative for political gain,” stated Dotasra.
He highlighted that there are already adequate legal frameworks to tackle such issues and accused the BJP of trying to divert public attention from more pressing matters by reigniting this discussion.
In response to RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat's remarks about the declining Hindu population, Dotasra recalled Bhagwat's assertion that ‘There is no need to search for a ‘Shivling’ in every mosque’, advocating for respect among all religions.
Dotasra also expressed disappointment over the BJP disregarding Bhagwat's plea to avoid divisive actions. “It is regrettable that the BJP, which has risen to power with the support of the RSS, is ignoring Bhagwat’s counsel,” he remarked.
Commenting on the BJP government's choice to appoint administrators in municipal bodies prior to elections, Dotasra accused the administration of sidelining public representatives.
He asserted that the government has postponed preparations for municipal and Panchayat elections, such as compiling voter lists and reservations, to rationalize the appointment of administrators.
Dotasra alleged that the BJP is applying a “Gujarat model” in Rajasthan, neglecting elected officials and permitting bureaucrats to dominate governance.
“Funds allocated from the Centre for Panchayati Raj are being mismanaged, and elections are being postponed, undermining constitutional requirements,” Dotasra claimed.
Addressing the internal strife within the BJP, particularly Minister Kirodi Lal Meena's comments following his brother's election loss, Dotasra pointed out the discord in the party, noting that Meena’s absence from the Cabinet meeting further emphasized these tensions.
Dotasra concluded that the BJP has not delivered on its commitments and urged the Rajasthan government to concentrate on governance instead of engaging in divisive politics.
