Rajasthan: Expansion of Mukhya Mantri Free Medicine Scheme Announced

Jaipur, Nov 28 (NationPress) The government of Rajasthan is poised to enhance the scope of the Mukhya Mantri Free Medicine Scheme, as announced during a meeting of the Technical Advisory Committee on Thursday.

The meeting, led by Neha Giri, Managing Director of Rajasthan Medical Services Corporation Limited, concentrated on improving the offerings of the scheme.

Key decisions were made to refresh the essential medicine list by adding new medications and reorganizing existing ones. The dialogue stressed the inclusion of medicines essential for treating a variety of ailments. Experts from the medical and pharmaceutical fields shared valuable perspectives on the availability, necessities, and supply chain of medications.

Giri pointed out that 390 medicines were reviewed during the meeting. As a result of these discussions, new medicines will soon be incorporated into the essential medicine list, facilitating improved access for patients at nearby healthcare facilities.

Currently, around 4.5 lakh patients benefit daily from the Mukhya Mantri Free Nirogi Dawa Scheme. The program operates efficiently through e-medicine software, ensuring a smooth supply, distribution, and management of medicines. At present, 1,240 medicines, 428 surgical items, and 156 sutures are available under the scheme.

For the financial year 2024-25, a budget allocation of ₹2,122 crore has been designated to support and improve the implementation of the scheme, officials noted.
