Jaipur, Dec 3 (NationPress) A woman was apprehended by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), and MD drugs valued at Rs 6 lakh were confiscated from her belongings in Rajasthan.

NCB Zonal Director Ghanshyam Soni mentioned that this operation took place in close proximity to Manipal University.

“There had been ongoing reports regarding drug smuggling and sales in this area. The team initiated surveillance of the situation in and around the vicinity,” he stated.

He further explained that following a tip-off, the operation was executed, leading to the capture of a woman, with the local police from Bagru police station in Jaipur also assisting in the operation.

The woman has been identified as Kavita Gurjar, a resident of Gurjar ka Mohalla, Dahmi Kala, Jaipur.

“Approximately 123.8 grams of MD drug was recovered from her possession,” he added.

Additionally, the NCB Jaipur Zonal Unit has registered a case against the accused woman under pertinent sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.

“An extensive investigation is currently in progress, which involves tracing the drug supply chain and identifying other individuals involved in this network,” he noted.

He emphasized that the targeting of educational institutions by drug traffickers poses a significant threat to the youth and the future of the nation.

Soni has encouraged the public and the youth to report any suspicious activities related to drug smuggling or abuse.

He stated that only through collective effort can we foster a drug-free society and guarantee a promising future for upcoming generations.

In May, authorities in Maharashtra uncovered operations that were producing mephedrone, commonly known as MD, in two villages in Jodhpur.

Subsequently, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and Sirohi police dismantled another facility manufacturing narcotic drugs in the Sirohi district, apprehending two individuals during the same month.

The Maharashtra Police seized MD worth Rs 107 crore and raw materials valued at Rs 68 lakh from a unit in Jodhpur.
