The court found Mohammad Irfan Usmangani Saiyad, a resident of Kalupur, Ahmedabad, guilty in this case.

This case involved the confiscation of 155 grams of mephedrone and 43 grams of charas at Kalupur Railway Station in February 2023, which led to the apprehension of the accused.

In a separate incident, a Special NDPS Court in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, recently sentenced three other drug traffickers to 15 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 1.50 lakh each for their interstate trafficking activities involving Ganja (Cannabis), according to an NCB official.

The trio was arrested by the NCB Bhopal Zonal Unit in 2000 for trafficking over 870 kg of Ganja from Odisha to Madhya Pradesh via Chhattisgarh, as per a statement from the NCB.

The individuals—Arun Kumar Sharma, Ranjit Sharma, and Ganga Choudhary—all hail from Village Koilwar, Surondha Colony, Aara, Bhojpur, Bihar, and were arrested alongside a seizure of 879.530 kg of Ganja, which is 44 times the commercial quantity, according to the NCB.

The events date back to November 17, 2020, when, acting on specific information, officers from the NCB's Indore Zonal Unit intercepted a truck at the Shaliwada Toll Plaza (on NH-30) in Barela Police Station, Jabalpur district.

During the investigation, it was revealed that the seized Ganja originated from Boregaon, Odisha, and was destined for Maihar, MP.

A complaint regarding this matter was filed before the Special NDPS Court in Jabalpur on May 7, 2021.

The convicts faced charges under sections 8(C), 20 (b)(ii)(C), and 29 of the NDPS Act, 1985 (as amended), according to the official statement.

In the current case, the pre-trial disposal of the seized drugs was carried out on June 3, 2022, and the pre-trial disposal of the seized vehicle was scheduled for January 6, 2025, following the established procedures, the official statement noted.
