Jammu, Dec 15 (NationPress) The Jammu and Kashmir Police have announced the arrest of a woman in Udhampur district, who is accused of being the mastermind behind a narcotics trafficking operation.

The individual has been named as Geeta Devi, hailing from Punjab.

On Monday, officials reported, “Geeta Devi, originally from Phagwara in Punjab, was taken into custody from her rented residence in Rajiv Nagar by a police team from the Udhampur police station. She was identified as the narcotics kingpin during the investigation of a case that followed the arrest of a drug dealer, Aditya Gupta, under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act on November 7.”

The investigation is ongoing, with authorities working to uncover the extensive connections within the network.

The J&K Police and security forces have intensified their operations against terrorists, their overground workers (OGWs), and supporters.

Drug traffickers, peddlers, and individuals involved in hawala money schemes and other illegal financial activities are being closely monitored by the security forces.

It is suspected that the proceeds from drug trafficking and other illicit financial activities are ultimately funneled to support terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir.

The Army and the Border Security Force (BSF) stationed along the Line of Control (LoC) and the International Border are responsible for thwarting infiltration, exfiltration, drug smuggling, and drone activities. Local police and security forces are actively engaged in anti-terrorism and anti-drug smuggling operations inland.

In their revised approach, police and security forces are focusing on dismantling the entire network supporting terrorism, rather than solely targeting armed terrorists.

Alongside arrests of drug traffickers and terror sympathizers, law enforcement has been seizing properties linked to terrorist activities, drug trafficking, and peddling, with the necessary legal orders from courts.
