Jaipur, Sep 3 (NationPress) The Rajasthan Legislative Assembly has successfully passed the Rajasthan Health Sciences University (Amendment) Bill, 2025 through a voice vote.
Following the discussions, Gajendra Singh, the Medical and Health Minister, revealed plans for the establishment of a Rajasthan Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Jaipur, which will be modeled after the renowned All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi.
The minister further stated that the Rajasthan University of Health Sciences (RUHS) will undergo an upgrade, with RIMS being constructed over 40 acres, featuring state-of-the-art super-speciality services. The state government has allocated sufficient funds for this ambitious initiative.
“The creation of RIMS is set to position Rajasthan as a frontrunner in advanced medical care and will enhance medical tourism,” Singh remarked. He also mentioned that RIMS is projected to be operational within the next two years.
Patients eligible under government health schemes will benefit from free treatment at the institute, significantly alleviating the pressure on current government hospitals.
The institute will operate as an autonomous body to maintain high standards of efficiency and quality.
The amendment bill grants the state government the power to designate any university component or college established as a government college. In such scenarios, all administrative control and assets—land, buildings, and laboratories—will be under the jurisdiction of the state government.
Singh emphasized that the government aims to ensure that residents of Rajasthan no longer need to seek highly specialized medical care outside the state.
With the launch of RIMS, the state is set to embark on a new chapter in advanced healthcare and world-class medical infrastructure.
