Jaipur, February 14 (NationPress) In a significant blow to Naresh Meena, who ran as an Independent candidate in the Deoli-Uniara Assembly by-election last year, the Rajasthan High Court has denied him bail in the Samrawata violence case.

A single-judge bench led by Justice Praveer Bhatnagar dismissed his bail request tied to his purported involvement in the unrest that occurred during the Deoli-Uniyara Assembly by-election on November 13.

Representing the Rajasthan government, Government Advocate-cum-Additional Advocate General Rajesh Chaudhary, alongside Manvendra Singh Chaudhary, Shriram Dhakad, and Aman Kumar, presented their case.

Following a thorough hearing, the court turned down Meena's bail plea.

On November 13, 2024, Meena allegedly slapped SDM Amit Chaudhary, which led to violent clashes in Samrawata village that same evening.

After the incident with the SDM, Meena returned to stage a dharna. Shortly after, a conflict arose regarding the obstruction of vehicles belonging to protesters.

The police apprehended Naresh Meena. Upon learning of his arrest, his supporters unlawfully took him from custody, prompting the police to respond with a lathi charge.

There were also reports of stone pelting by villagers, with numerous vehicles set ablaze in the area.

In the wake of the turmoil, Nagarfort Police filed FIR 167/24 and arrested Meena on November 14.

After spending 88 days in custody, the police filed the charge sheet with the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Court, Uniara, on February 6, 2025.

With the High Court's recent decision to deny bail, Meena remains incarcerated.

In a related note, former minister Rajendra Gudha attempted to visit Naresh Meena in jail on Tuesday but was refused access due to procedural regulations.

Gudha expressed his frustration, noting that he had coordinated with both the jail administration and police prior to his trip from Jhunjhunu to Tonk.

However, authorities cited rules, denying the meeting, which he deemed unfair.
