Jaipur, Sep 26 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Bhajan Lal Sharma, urged non-resident Rajasthanis (NRRs) on Friday to play an active role in fostering the state's development by investing in diverse sectors.
While addressing the Pravasi Rajasthani Meet in Hyderabad, he stated, "Non-resident Rajasthanis disseminate the essence of our culture, traditions, and values wherever they reside. In addition to excelling in their respective fields, they also champion social initiatives. It is time to unite in our mission to build a prosperous and advanced Rajasthan."
CM Sharma emphasized that the government is fostering an investment-friendly climate through over 20 new policies and significant infrastructure projects.
He pointed out that Rajasthan is on a path to becoming a $350 billion economy, having signed memorandums of understanding (MoUs) worth Rs 35 lakh crore during the Rising Rajasthan Summit, with approximately Rs 7 lakh crore already implemented.
The Chief Minister announced that the Pravasi Rajasthani Diwas will be observed annually on December 10, commencing this year in Jaipur.
He invited all expatriates to participate in the inaugural event, which will feature sector-specific sessions on education, tourism, health, industry, and water conservation.
The state government will also present the Pravasi Rajasthani Samman each year to recognize expatriates for their exceptional contributions, according to the Chief Minister.
To enhance engagement, CM Sharma mentioned that a dedicated department for non-resident Rajasthanis will be established.
Additionally, a single point of contact has been created in each district, with the Additional District Collector serving as the nodal officer to assist expatriate families.
The Rajasthan Foundation now boasts 26 active chapters globally, including locations in New York, London, and Riyadh.
Highlighting Rajasthan's infrastructure and resource capabilities, the Chief Minister noted that the state possesses the third-largest highway network, the fifth-largest railway network, and seven airports.
A significant section of the Delhi-Mumbai Freight Corridor also traverses the state, he added.
He underscored future initiatives like the Pachpadra Refinery and the development of 17 GW of renewable energy capacity.
Regarding energy and tourism, Chief Minister Sharma referenced Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent inauguration of a 2,800 MW nuclear power project in Mahi-Banswara valued at Rs 42,000 crore.
He stated that Rajasthan is also prioritizing solar, battery storage, and pump storage projects, while simplifying tourism investment regulations to lure both domestic and international investors.
