Jaipur, May 7 (NationPress) Bharat Adivasi Party (BAP) MLA Jayakrishna Patel from Bagidaura (Banswara) has been placed into judicial custody by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) court this Wednesday, linked to a significant Rs 20 lakh bribery case.
In addition to Patel, the court also mandated the judicial custody of his cousin Vijay Patel, due to their alleged roles in the scandal. The ACB has also obtained police remand for Jaswant, also known as Laxman Meena, and Jagram, who are suspected of accepting and concealing the bribe money for two days on behalf of PA Rohit Meena.
The bureau had requested a four-day remand for all four individuals but was granted only partial custody.
During the court proceedings, ACB officials informed the judge that MLA Jayakrishna Patel was uncooperative during the interrogation.
Officials pointed out the existence of vital evidence on his mobile device, which requires thorough investigation. A confrontation between Patel and his cousin Vijay is also awaited, as investigators believe both hold critical information regarding the bribery.
“Vijay Patel is knowledgeable about the transaction, and a face-to-face meeting may help clarify numerous unresolved inquiries,” the ACB presented to the court.
Interestingly, the ACB disclosed that upon examining the seized bag containing the Rs 20 lakh, a discrepancy of Rs 83,000 was found. Both Jagram and Jaswant have been remanded to identify who removed the missing amount.
They have claimed possession of two distinct backpacks, but investigators suspect some of the money has been siphoned off.
The ACB is currently attempting to trace the route of the missing cash - whether it was diverted to the MLA's residence, taken away by Rohit Meena, or removed from either Jaswant’s or Jagram’s homes, where the funds were temporarily hidden.
Moreover, the ACB is conducting ongoing raids in potential hideouts to locate Rohit Meena, the personal assistant to MLA Patel, who allegedly escaped with the bribe money.
Despite various efforts, Rohit remains elusive, and attempts to find him at his residence or known locations have been unsuccessful.
Furthermore, MLA Patel has reportedly declined to assist in locating Rohit and has denied identifying Jaswant and Jagram, both arrested on Tuesday. His unwillingness is raising further suspicions about his involvement and knowledge of the bribery scheme.
