Jaipur, March 4 (NationPress) The Rajasthan Police has placed a freeze on 6.74 hectares of agricultural land in Bagwas, Pratapgarh, associated with habitual criminal Jansher Khan, the son of Shernawaz, a resident of Akhepur, under Section 24(3) of the Benami Property Transaction Prohibition Act, 1988.

The Income Tax Department has instructed the Pratapgarh Tehsildar and Sub-Registrar to guarantee that the property remains non-transferable under any circumstances.

Jansher Khan, a notorious figure in the land mafia, acquired properties through intimidation and deceit. His criminal acts culminated in the tragic suicide of Mustafa Bohra, a respected community member in Pratapgarh. Bohra faced continuous threats, was coerced into fraudulent land transactions, and was forced to sign blank cheques under duress.

When the accused began encroaching on his land, Bohra tragically consumed poison on August 30, 2023. Despite medical intervention, he could not be saved. His final statement, recorded on video as per the directions of then-SP Amit Kumar, along with his suicide note, implicated Jansher Khan and his accomplices as the sources of his immense distress, leading him to take his own life.

In the aftermath of Bohra's death, Rajasthan Police apprehended Jansher Khan and his associates on August 31, 2023. Investigations uncovered that Jansher had defrauded numerous individuals and illegally secured properties valued in crores, registering them under various names to disguise ownership.

On December 28, 2023, outgoing SP Amit Kumar (currently DCP West Jaipur) compiled a report on 10 benami properties associated with Jansher and submitted it to the Joint Commissioner, Income Tax Department (Benami Prohibition).

Evidence indicated that Jansher had acquired agricultural land worth Rs 12 crore in Pratapgarh under the names of his associates Basanti Lal Meena, Radheshyam Meena, Sarmath Meena, and Bhaggaram.

The land, identified by Khasra numbers 466, 501, and 509, remains under Jansher’s control, as confirmed by co-account holder Kishore Meena's statement.

The Income Tax Department has issued notices to the four individuals under whose names Jansher registered the properties, including Basanti Lal Meena, Radheshyam Meena (also known as Bhaggaram Meena), and Sarmath Lal Meena (from Sanoti Kul, Pratapgarh). Authorities have mandated the Pratapgarh Tehsildar and Sub-Registrar to ensure these properties remain frozen and non-transferable, reinforcing the Rajasthan Police’s commitment to combating land mafia activities.
