Jaipur, Oct 2 (NationPress) Since Thursday evening, Jaipur has been experiencing intense rains, leading to a significant drop in temperatures. Officials from the MeT Department indicated that a fresh wave of rain has begun affecting numerous districts across Rajasthan following the retreat of the monsoon.
The weather took a dramatic turn in the capital, Jaipur, after 7 PM on Thursday when heavy rainfall commenced. This has resulted in ongoing rain for the last three days. Other districts, including Karauli, Alwar, and Dholpur, also witnessed light showers.
As the evening progressed, several districts such as Jalore, Barmer, Jodhpur, and Nagaur remained under cloudy skies.
The Meteorological Centre in Jaipur has issued a yellow alert for rain on October 3 for the districts of Bundi, Kota, Baran, Jhalawar, Chittorgarh, Pratapgarh, Dungarpur, Banswara, Udaipur, Bhilwara, Rajsamand, and Sirohi.
According to the Meteorological Department, rainfall is expected to persist across Rajasthan until October 6. Due to a Western Disturbance, alerts for heavy rain and thunderstorms have been issued for the Bikaner and Jodhpur divisions on October 5 and 6.
In the past 24 hours, rainfall measurements included 5 mm in Alwar, 4 mm in Govindgarh (Alwar), 5 mm in Rajakheda (Dholpur), 4 mm in Dholpur city, 6 mm in Karauli, 2.5 mm in Nagaur, and 1.4 mm in Jodhpur.
Light showers were also recorded in cities such as Jaipur, Dausa, Ganganagar, and Bikaner.
Previously, cities like Jaipur, Alwar, and Bharatpur experienced overcast conditions, leading to a decline in daytime temperatures.
On Thursday, Sriganganagar reported maximum temperatures exceeding 37 degrees, with a peak of 37.5 degrees. Additionally, temperatures reached 36 degrees in Churu, Bikaner, and Jaisalmer, 33.9 degrees in Jodhpur, 35.4 degrees in Barmer, and 35.8 degrees in Pilani, among others.
Radheshyam Sharma, Director of the Meteorological Centre in Jaipur, noted, "A well-defined low-pressure system has emerged in the Arabian Sea near the Gujarat coast, supplying significant moisture to Rajasthan. Furthermore, a cyclonic circulation has developed over northeastern Rajasthan, influenced by a trough extending into the Arabian Sea."
This weather system is causing rain in the southwestern, northern, and northeastern regions of Rajasthan.
A new Western Disturbance is set to activate over North India starting October 4, anticipated to bring precipitation to northern states, including Rajasthan. This system may also result in heavy rain in the western and northern areas of Rajasthan on October 5 and 6.
