Jaipur, Nov 17 (NationPress) Cold winds from the north have surged into Rajasthan, amplifying the winter chill and bringing minimum temperatures down to single digits in numerous districts, signaling the coldest spell of the season to date.
In eastern Rajasthan, Pilani recorded the lowest minimum temperature at 4.9 degrees Celsius, while in western Rajasthan, Nagaur marked a low of 5.6 degrees Celsius. Districts such as Sikar, Churu, Jhunjhunu, Jodhpur, Chittorgarh, and Udaipur were notably affected by the cold wave.
In Jodhpur, the temperature fell to 10 degrees Celsius, with Chittorgarh reporting 8.2 degrees Celsius and Udaipur at 8.5 degrees Celsius. Several districts, including Jodhpur, Chittorgarh, Udaipur, and Nagaur, experienced their coldest night of the season thus far. Meanwhile, Jaipur logged a minimum temperature of 12 degrees Celsius.
Other minimum temperatures recorded included: Ajmer at 9.8 degrees Celsius, Bhilwara at 8.6 degrees Celsius, Vanasthali (Tonk) at 7.9 degrees Celsius, Alwar at 8 degrees Celsius, Churu at 8 degrees Celsius, Jalore at 7.4 degrees Celsius, Karauli at 7.6 degrees Celsius, Dausa at 6.8 degrees Celsius, Barmer at 14.1 degrees Celsius, Jaisalmer at 12.5 degrees Celsius, Kota at 10.6 degrees Celsius, and both Bikaner and Ganganagar at 11.2 degrees Celsius, with Jhunjhunu at 9.1 degrees Celsius.
Daytime temperatures have also dipped across the state, with Barmer reaching 31.6 degrees Celsius, Bikaner at 31.3 degrees Celsius, Churu at 29.4 degrees Celsius, Jaipur at 28 degrees Celsius, Jaisalmer at 30 degrees Celsius, Jodhpur at 29.8 degrees Celsius, Kota at 26.9 degrees Celsius, and Ajmer at 28.1 degrees Celsius. Sirohi recorded the lowest maximum temperature of the day at 22.6 degrees Celsius.
The Meteorological Centre in Jaipur has issued a yellow alert for Sikar, Jhunjhunu, Churu, and Nagaur for Monday, with an additional alert for Sikar on Tuesday.
Officials indicated that the state is expected to remain dry throughout the week, with no immediate relief in sight as the cold northerly winds continue.
On Sunday, a cold wave affected Sikar, Churu, Jhunjhunu (Shekhawati region), as well as parts of Nagaur, Jodhpur, Ajmer, Chittorgarh, and Udaipur, making mornings and evenings particularly biting. While sunlight provided brief daytime respite, temperatures plummeted once again in the evenings.
