Jaipur, Feb 28 (NationPress) Rajasthan Food and Civil Supplies Minister Sumit Godara expressed on Friday that the state administration is devoted to the upliftment of underprivileged communities.

“The Chief Minister has provided explicit instructions to ensure that marginalized groups are incorporated into government initiatives and gain maximum advantages, thereby empowering them to integrate into societal norms,” he stated.

Godara emphasized the 'Give Up' campaign, which was launched last year, designed to restore the rights of the underprivileged by motivating ineligible persons to voluntarily remove their names from the food security list. The resources saved from this program will be allocated to guarantee food security for those genuinely eligible beneficiaries.

Initially scheduled to end on 28 February, the campaign has been extended to 31 March due to its success, as stated by Godara. He encouraged all eligible individuals who have yet to exit the National Food Security Act (NFSA) list to seize this opportunity, ensuring that rightful beneficiaries receive the aid they deserve. He also warned that legal measures will be pursued against those who do not voluntarily take their names off the list.

Since its inception on 1 November last year, the campaign has garnered an impressive response, with 1,207,032 individuals voluntarily opting out of the food security benefits.

Godara remarked that the public views this initiative as a significant move toward social justice and equitable resource allocation.

On Republic Day, Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma re-launched the Food Security Portal, resulting in the inclusion of approximately 755,000 new beneficiaries. This measure has greatly improved access to food security for previously marginalized individuals.

Godara reiterated the government's commitment to ensuring that food security reaches the most deserving members of society while fostering fairness and social responsibility.

“The Give Up campaign commenced on 1 November last year. To date, 120,732 individuals have voluntarily removed their names from the food security list,” Godara shared, adding that public feedback regarding the campaign is positive.

“People are recognizing this campaign as a vital step towards social justice and appropriate resource distribution,” he noted.
