Rajnath Singh, CDS Gen Chauhan in Jaipur for Joint Commanders' Conference
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan arrived in Jaipur on Thursday, 7 May 2025, to inaugurate the second edition of the Joint Commanders' Conference, themed 'Military Capability in New Domains'. The two-day conference, continuing through Friday, carries heightened significance as it coincides with the first anniversary of Operation Sindoor — India's landmark tri-service military operation targeting terrorist infrastructure across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
Why Jaipur Was Chosen
Rajasthan's long international border with Pakistan, the presence of strategic military installations, and the operational importance of its border districts made Jaipur the natural choice for this anniversary conference. The city had also hosted the Army Day Parade on 15 January 2025 at Mahal Road, Jagatpura — the first time the parade was held outside a traditional Army cantonment and opened to public viewing, featuring tanks, missile systems, and live combat capability demonstrations.
Key Focus Areas of the Conference
The conference will serve as a high-level forum to assess India's preparedness across emerging domains — cyber warfare, space, and cognitive warfare — and to chart a roadmap for building a future-ready, technologically decisive force. A central theme is the acceleration of indigenisation and Aatmanirbharta in defence production, with emphasis on fostering a domestic ecosystem of innovation through civil-military fusion.
The event will also feature demonstrations of in-house developed futuristic applications and the release of new doctrines covering future warfare concepts and operational strategies. Officials have indicated that the discussions will address the transformative role of artificial intelligence, unmanned systems, and threats extending beyond traditional battlefields into invisible frontiers.
Operation Sindoor: One Year On
According to official accounts, the Indian Air Force carried out precision airstrikes at approximately 1:05 a.m. on 7 May, targeting terrorist hideouts in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
