New Delhi, March 21 (NationPress) In a statement on Saturday, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh emphasized that modern warfare knows no boundaries, with national security now extending to areas like economic, digital, energy, and food security.

During a virtual address at the Raising Day celebrations and the Diamond Jubilee of Sainik School, Ghorakhal in Uttarakhand, he pointed out that the character of conflicts has significantly changed. Today, a nation can be undermined through economic, cyber, space, and informational warfare. This evolution necessitates that every citizen stays alert and ready at all times.

He stressed the importance of a strong military backed by citizens who are prepared to defend the nation under any circumstances.

Rajnath Singh remarked that the Government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is making every effort to equip the armed forces with cutting-edge weaponry and technology. However, he urged citizens, particularly the youth, to cultivate mental resilience and intellectual clarity through discipline.

He highlighted the importance of determination in enabling the nation to confront any challenges and introduced the concept of VUCA (Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, and Ambiguous). He encouraged students to create their own interpretation of VUCA—Vision, Understanding, Courage, and Adaptability—to successfully navigate contemporary challenges.

Rajnath Singh also detailed government initiatives aimed at ensuring more youth adopt values fundamental to nation-building. Recently, a decision was made to establish 100 new Sainik Schools across the country through a Public-Private Partnership model.

Additionally, he mentioned an increase in the National Cadet Corps (NCC) intake, expanding capacity from 17 lakh to 20 lakh cadets.

He described the decision to allow girls into Sainik Schools as a historic and transformative step, which is strengthening the country's 'Nari Shakti' (Women Power).

These girls are expected to become future leaders of 'Nari Shakti' and achieve new milestones across various sectors, he stated.

In his address to the students, faculty, alumni, and their families at Sainik School, Ghorakhal, celebrating 60 years of dedicated service to the nation, Rajnath Singh expressed confidence that the students would continue to embody the highest standards of discipline and commitment, thereby bringing honor to their families, institution, and the nation.

“Over the years, the school has successfully sent more than 800 students to the National Defence Academy and over 2,000 candidates to the Armed Forces through various entry schemes, including the Combined Defence Services Examination and the Air Force Common Admission Test,” he added.
