Ahmedabad, Aug 5 (NationPress) Commemorating the fifth anniversary of the Bhoomi Pujan for the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, BJP spokesperson Rohan Gupta termed this occasion a moment of pride for all Indians, stating that the temple embodies Sanatan Dharma.

Gupta conveyed that the temple’s construction, following the Supreme Court's ruling, represents not only a religious achievement but also a cultural landmark.

In an interview with IANS, Rohan Gupta remarked, “This is an immensely proud moment for every Indian. The Ram Mandir is a representation of Sanatan Dharma. For centuries, India has epitomized Sanatan Dharma as it is intertwined with our civilizational identity.”

Addressing the political reactions from the Opposition, Gupta noted, “Even the Opposition acknowledged their intention to respect the Supreme Court’s ruling. The Ram Mandir has been constructed in accordance with that verdict. It has been over a year since Ram Lalla’s Pran Pratishtha, and I believe that opposition leaders should have paid a visit to the temple—not as politicians, but as devotees. Their absence indicates political maneuvering, possibly linked to appeasement.”

He added, “Neglecting to visit the Ram Mandir can only be justified by political motives. The citizens of our country are aware of such silence, whether it’s remaining mute in the face of insults to Sanatan Dharma or failing to protect it. Over the past year, the Opposition has showcased many similar instances. The people will not forget or forgive.”

Gupta also commented on the sixth anniversary of the abrogation of Article 370 and the division of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) into two Union Territories—an event that the BJP celebrates as a historic rectification.

“When Article 370 was abolished, there were loud protests—people claimed that democracy was under siege. However, the current ground reality tells a different story. The sense of belonging that the people of J&K now feel towards India is evidence that this decision was correct,” he stated during his conversation with IANS.

He reminisced about the challenging times when the Valley saw large rallies in support of terrorists.

“Those days are behind us. Previously, thousands would attend the funeral processions of militants. But after the abrogation of Article 370, there has been a noticeable change. People have come to understand where their true future lies,” he continued.

He highlighted the concrete advancements in the region: “Young people in Kashmir now have job opportunities, infrastructure is improving, and the economy is on the rise. Yes, Pakistan still tries to launch terror attacks, but even Kashmiris are now aware that it is Kashmir that suffers the consequences. Following the Pahalgam attack, it is evident that the people are aligned with India.”

He asserted, “A decisive phase has arrived. The development of Kashmir is our priority, and the joint efforts of the people of India and Kashmir will bring this vision to fruition.”

Gupta further responded to recent comments made by US President Donald Trump, who accused India of buying and reselling Russian oil for profit and threatened to “significantly” increase tariffs if re-elected. The Indian government retorted firmly, labeling the claims as unjustified and unreasonable.

Gupta stated, “Safeguarding the interests of the Indian populace is the utmost priority of the Government of India. Our response signifies a sovereign stance—we are open to cooperation but will not act under duress.”

He emphasized that India’s approach is based on principles, not submission.

“This is not about opposing any specific nation or leader. It’s about upholding India’s sovereignty. The Government of India has made it clear—we will not compromise on national interests. We are willing to engage in dialogue, but not at the expense of our citizens.”

Gupta noted that India’s global presence has transformed.

“The world now views India as a nation that stands on its own. Whether it’s concerning oil imports, trade, or diplomacy, India will always prioritize its citizens. This assertiveness is not rebellion—it’s dignity,” he told IANS.
