Kolkata, April 5 (NationPress) Following intelligence warnings about potential unrest during Ram Navami festivities in various parts of West Bengal, both state and Kolkata police have resolved to monitor every procession with extensive camera surveillance on Sunday.

To enhance oversight, additional CCTV cameras have been installed along crucial procession routes throughout the state.

Moreover, police personnel assigned for security will be equipped with body cameras to ensure accurate documentation of events.

“Our primary focus is to identify the instigators and wrongdoers in any instance of disturbance,” stated a senior police official.

“With improved video coverage this time, it will be notably easier to identify those responsible for inciting or partaking in violence,” the official added.

In Kolkata, drone surveillance will complement ground-level monitoring. All officers and staff deployed along the routes have been advised to wear appropriate protective gear.

The state police have pinpointed 10 particularly sensitive zones across Bengal. District police superintendents and commissioners of the respective police Commissionerate have been directed to implement enhanced security measures in these areas.

To strengthen security in these high-risk locations, 29 senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officers have been assigned. In addition to uniformed personnel, a significant number of plainclothes officers will also be present during the processions.

All lanes and bylanes adjacent to procession routes will undergo thorough sanitization prior to the events commencing.

Earlier on Saturday, West Bengal BJP president and Union Minister of State Dr Sukanta Majumdar called upon the state administration to ensure tranquil celebrations of Ram Navami.

“Crores of Hindus will be partaking in the Ram Navami celebrations on Sunday. This festival has been celebrated in Bengal for millennia, just as it is across the nation. Any efforts to disrupt these celebrations must be thwarted at all costs,” Majumdar stated.
