Kolkata, March 28 (NationPress) - With a strong emphasis on executing a successful Ram Navami festival celebration in West Bengal on April 6, the state unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has decided to defer all other planned political events in the period following the celebration.

A member of the state committee of the BJP in West Bengal stated that the primary goal is to ensure a successful Ram Navami celebration this year and to organize a record number of processions.

“While the state unit is not directly involved in organizing these processions, many party leaders and workers will participate in the celebrations in their local areas. This is why all scheduled political activities have been postponed until after April 6,” the state committee member explained.

Similarly, BJP’s Rajya Sabha member and spokesperson Samik Bhattacharya mentioned that although the BJP as a political party is not directly linked to various celebration programs for Ram Navami, many party members will be engaged in the festivities, as this day is significant for all Hindus.

“In recent years, we have seen a tremendous turnout of the general public during Ram Navami celebrations in West Bengal. We anticipate a similar response this year. Our party cannot overlook the sentiments of the public. While we are not directly organizing the celebrations, we respect the occasion,” he added.

The Leader of the Opposition in West Bengal, Suvendu Adhikari, noted earlier this month that there would be at least 2,000 rallies, both large and small, for Ram Navami this year.

He also predicted that participation in the rallies would double compared to last year.

“This year's Ram Navami will be celebrated on a grand scale. I will be present on the streets that day. Last year around 50 lakh Hindus participated in rallies for Ram Navami. Last year we had 1,000 rallies, but this year we expect to have 2,000, with around one crore Hindus joining in,” the Leader of the Opposition remarked.
