Chennai, July 12 (NationPress) PMK founder S. Ramadoss is preparing to personally submit a police complaint in Chennai in light of serious allegations that a sophisticated audio surveillance device was discovered at his home.
The prominent leader has refuted claims that an online complaint was filed, indicating he will meet with the Director General of Police (DGP) to officially express his concerns.
To clarify the situation, a close aide of Ramadoss mentioned on Saturday, "No complaint has been submitted yet. Reports suggesting an online complaint are false. A leader of Iyah's (Ramadoss') caliber will not file an online petition like an ordinary person. He will personally go to submit it."
However, the aide did not specify when Ramadoss plans to visit Chennai.
On Friday, while addressing reporters in Virudhachalam, Ramadoss claimed that a bugging device had been located near his frequently used landline telephone.
According to sources, the device was unearthed on June 9 and appeared to be a high-end audio surveillance gadget featuring an international SIM card.
The ramifications of such an intrusion have raised significant concerns regarding internal security and potential insider involvement.
This incident occurs amid reports of an ongoing dispute between Ramadoss and his son, Anbumani Ramadoss, who currently leads the PMK.
Although the senior leader did not directly accuse anyone, political analysts have pointed out the existing tensions within the party.
Adding to the controversy, Ramadoss' faction has claimed that control of his official social media accounts remains with individuals loyal to Anbumani, despite their removal from critical roles within the party.
Ramadoss last updated his X account @drramadoss on May 28.
He is reportedly contemplating seeking police aid to regain access.
In response to these developments, PMK spokesperson and Anbumani supporter K. Balu acknowledged the severity of the situation.
"Dr. Ramadoss is a highly respected senior leader. If someone has indeed installed a surveillance device in his residence, this represents a serious lapse in security. The state must conduct a comprehensive investigation," Balu stated.
Balu also suggested the formation of a panel of cybersecurity experts to examine the issue and called for stringent action if the allegations prove valid. As the crisis intensifies, the political consequences could further destabilize the PMK, capturing the attention of law enforcement agencies and the larger political arena.
