New Delhi, July 6 (NationPress) BJP Lok Sabha member Praveen Khandelwal has sent a letter to Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, urging him to rename New Delhi Railway Station in honor of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. He emphasized that the strategic location and significance of the New Delhi Railway Station make it an appropriate tribute to a leader whose life and achievements continue to motivate countless individuals.
Khandelwal noted that Vajpayee had a profound emotional connection to Delhi, where he spent much of his political career. He argued that renaming the station would honor Vajpayee's unwavering dedication to the nation.
The BJP MP pointed out that various prominent public facilities and transit centers are named after national heroes, such as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus in Mumbai and Krantivira Sangolli Rayanna Station in Bengaluru. He stated, "New Delhi, the nation’s heart, rightly deserves to honor a leader of Vajpayee ji's caliber."
In addition to saluting his substantial contributions, renaming the station would inspire future generations who travel through the capital.
“Atal Bihari Vajpayee guided India into a transformative period of economic advancement, infrastructural growth, and international presence. His inclusive approach to politics, dignified leadership, and dedication to democratic principles garnered him tremendous respect across the political landscape and among the populace of India,” Khandelwal's letter articulated.
Recently, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta proposed that the Old Delhi Railway Station be renamed in honor of Maharaj Agrasen, the renowned king of Agroha, known for his social justice and economic insight.
“Renaming the station as Maharaja Agrasen Railway Station would stand as a commendable tribute to his lasting contributions,” she commented.
