Rescue Operations Ongoing for 3-Year-Old Girl Trapped in Rajasthan Borewell

Jaipur, Dec 25 (NationPress) Three-year-old Chetna, who fell into a 700-ft deep borewell in Rajasthan's Kotputli on December 23, remains unrescued despite ongoing efforts.
The young girl, a resident of Badiyali ki Dhani in Kiratpur, fell into the borewell while playing around 2 p.m. on Monday. Initially, she was trapped at a depth of approximately 150 feet. Rescuers managed to lift her up by just 30 feet using a makeshift tool. Since Tuesday morning, her movements have become unclear.
Meanwhile, four local techniques were unsuccessful late on Tuesday night, prompting the initiation of the use of a piling machine.
Yogesh Meena, the person in charge of the NDRF operation, stated that the piling machine can excavate to a depth of 150 feet. 'We are now going to dig a parallel tunnel, 150 feet long, utilizing the piling machine. Once that is finished, we’ll create a small tunnel from the new tunnel to the borewell to reach the girl.'
Rescuers aim to dig down to 160 feet to ensure that Chetna is above them, facilitating a safe approach from below. Currently, she is trapped at a depth of 120 feet with the assistance of a J-shaped hook. The indigenous method of pulling her up with a hook was unsuccessful on Tuesday.
At around midnight on Tuesday, Kotputli Subdivision Officer Brijesh Kumar provided an update to the media regarding the operation, indicating that they are working tirelessly to rescue the girl. 'Our initial plan was to extract the girl using various tools. When that failed, we shifted to plan B—digging a pit with the piling machine,' he explained.
Furthermore, Chetna’s grandfather, Harshaya Chaudhary, expressed his frustration towards the administration for negligence. He stated, 'The administration kept claiming they were removing soil, but after 28 hours, they opted to use a machine for digging. This is negligence.'
