Mumbai, March 23 (NationPress) The legal counsel of Bollywood star Rhea Chakraborty has asserted that the misleading narrative perpetuated on social media regarding her client following the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput was entirely unjustified.
He further stated that the results of the investigation have reinstated trust in the judicial system.
On Saturday, the CBI announced in its closure report that there was no evidence indicating that anyone had coerced Sushant Singh Rajput into taking his own life, thus clearing Rhea Chakraborty and her family.
In response to the closure report, Rhea's attorney, Satish Maneshinde, remarked, "The CBI has concluded its investigation into the death of Sushant Singh Rajput after nearly four years. We express our gratitude to the CBI for their comprehensive examination of all aspects of the case. The rampant false narratives in social and electronic media were completely unwarranted. During the pandemic, people were glued to their screens due to the lack of events in the country. Innocent individuals were persecuted and showcased before media and investigative bodies. I hope such occurrences do not happen again in future cases."
He added, "I urge media leaders to consider their actions. Rhea Chakraborty faced unimaginable hardships and was incarcerated for 27 days without justification until Justice Sarang V. Kotwal granted her bail. I commend her and her family for their silent endurance amid the inhumane treatment they received. They approached me through a close friend and defense personnel who studied with me at a Sainik School. Both Rhea's family and my team were harassed and threatened with harm. Yet, our commitment to our legal responsibilities remained unshaken."
The lawyer expressed pride in defending a Fauji Family pro bono, emphasizing the need to clarify speculation regarding his fees.
"I also extend my gratitude to a significant portion of the media for supporting both Rhea's cause and her pursuit of justice. This nation remains secure, and every citizen yearning for justice holds hope due to our dynamic judiciary," he concluded.
Sushant was discovered hanging at his residence in the Bandra district of Mumbai on June 14, 2020.
